GENERAL INFORMATION
With the advance of biotechnology and biomedicine, two high technology areas, great success was achieved in health care. On the other hand using these technologies could create new issues and problems in ethical, legal, social, and cultural aspects of relationship between human and environment/nature/all other life forms. Bioethics, as a study of all these issues and problems, is a multidisciplinary area which blends philosophy, theology, history, and law with medicine, nursing, genetics, biology, health policy and medical humanities.
Using extensive resources of Hacettepe University, with the aim of maintaining bioethics training, research and counseling activities with national and international incorporations Hacettepe Center for Bioethics was established at 15 December 2011 with the Regulation numbered 28143. Prof. Dr. Nüket Örnek Büken was assigned to the Director of the Center for Bioethics at 01 June 2012 and the Executive Committee was established at 22 June 2012.
